A thought on Climate Change

Author: adminjol501

It is crazy how unpredictable weather can be. Spring officially started last March 20 and we still get occasional snow falls in Regina. Just when I started enjoying the outdoors, snow bounces back.

I woke up yesterday and it was drizzling. A few minutes later and it was already snowing hard. My husband has been using his spring coat when he goes to work for some time now and yesterday, he had to wear his winter jacket again. Guess this is why climate change is often compared to how a woman changes her mind so easily. One minute it’s a yes, the next minute it’s a no.

Spring Snow in Regina

Nature works in wonderful ways. It is powerful on its own that we cannot tame it. We only have to devise ways to cope with whatever it has to offer us. It shapes and heals our environment. Most of the time, it is friendly to us if we are friendly to it. If we take care of our environment, it takes good care of us too. Yes, climate change can be very unpredictable but it is usually in moderate ways. When it does change drastically, it makes us rethink our position and teaches us a lesson.

If the earth is only one day old, humans have only been here on the eleventh hour but we have done the most damage. In our quest to develop, we have depleted the earth of its resources. We have also stripped animals and plants of their homes. I’m glad there are now many organizations and foundations dedicated to giving back to the environment, planting trees and raising awareness. I hope the next generation will have a better understanding of the environment in order to better care for it. I also hope we can, not only lessen the amount of damage to the environment in the future but find ways to reverse the damaged that has already been done.
